Important Considerations about Lifestyle Health

Special Report Reveals…

How to Choose a Long and Healthy Life Free Of Disease, Infirmity and Disability

Get Started Today

Are your habits and daily choices (some of them unconscious) draining the very life from you? Do you realise that your future health may be under serious threat?

Not worried because you read that in the Western world life expectancy is getting higher mainly due to medical advances? Progress surely? Well, not really, considering that the last third of your life may be spent with one or more chronic health conditions. While you may live longer than your grandparents or great grandparents did it’s the quality of your life that will deteriorate or you may die prematurely from preventable lifestyle diseases.

Here is some sobering news:

In the US alone around 900,000 people die prematurely from heart disease, stroke or cancer. An astonishing 20 – 40 per cent of these deaths are preventable, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The National Health Service (UK) reports that 1 in 2 deaths is caused by heart disease.

It’s true that some diseases have a genetic component but in many cases it is lifestyle choices that can determine whether these genes are switched on or not.
Some more worrying trends:

People lead more sedentary lives. The World Health Organisation reports that sitting for eight or more hours a day increases your risk of weight gain, obesity and developing type 2 diabetes by 90 per cent.

We discourage our children from playing outdoors and both children and adults spend hours on their mobile phones or tablets or watching television while consuming processed food devoid of nutrients.

The typical adult and child is fatter than at any other time in our history. Maybe you also struggle with weight.

Smoking and alcohol consumption are still major lifestyle choices for many people.

Here’s some good news:
In most cases, the overweight and obesity and other unhealthy states that lead to cancer, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and premature death are preventable!

The World Health Organisation has this to say:
“Diet has been known for many years to play a key role as a risk factor for chronic diseases. What is apparent at the global level is that great changes have swept the entire world since the second half of the twentieth century, inducing major modifications in diet, first in industrial regions and more recently in developing countries. Traditional, largely plant-based diets have been swiftly replaced by high-fat, energy-dense diets with a substantial content of animal-based foods. But diet, while critical to prevention, is just one risk factor. Physical inactivity, now recognized as an increasingly important determinant of health, is the result of a progressive shift of lifestyle towards more sedentary patterns, in developing countries as much as in industrialized ones.”
Hard facts and figures illustrate exactly how poor lifestyle decisions negatively affect your health. Take a look:

Globally an estimated 17.3 million people die from cardiovascular disease – 30 per cent – of all deaths – each year.
Coronary heart disease causes over 23,000 premature deaths in the UK.
In the US the Centers for Disease Control has said that 610,000 people die each year in that nation from heart disease. That’s 1,700 people every day!
The World Health Organization (WHO) tells us that lifestyle diseases account for a staggering 70 per cent of all deaths.
1 in 3 adults in the US and the UK is overweight or obese. Think back… Childhood obesity was mostly unknown before the 1970s. It is now considered a health epidemic by WHO, the CDC and other global health authorities.
Every two minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer. The incidence rates for all cancers combined (excluding non-melanoma skin cancer) for both sexes in the UK are higher (74 per cent in males and 97 per cent in females) than the less developed regions of the world, say leading UK cancer charities.
In the United States alone more than 1.6 million cases of cancer are diagnosed each year. Of these 600,000 will die from these cancers. Diet is a key risk factor for several cancers. (National Cancer Institute).

The statistics are hard to take – but there is hope!

In most cases all of these debilitating and deadly lifestyle diseases can be avoided.

Yes, that’s right.

The choices you make today can create a level of health and well-being that steers you from the path of disease and illness onto one of a long and healthy life.

More news:

WHO has reported that 80 per cent of premature heart disease and stroke is totally preventable.

A staggering 90 per cent of all lung cancer deaths are caused by smoking. Smoking is a choice. Break the habit and live a longer, healthier life.

The National Institutes of Health in the US states that as many as one in five deaths in high-income, modern nations are linked to obesity.

Eating mostly processed foods causes at least two million heart-related deaths around the world each year (American Heart Association).

And there’s more…

7 out of 10 deaths in the world are caused by poor lifestyle choices.
